We’re all at home and the dog is wondering what’s going on. It’s easy and tempting to slip into weekend behaviour but here are some tips for keeping healthy if you’re working at home:

  • Keep your space separate for your work, away from family and distractions
  • Get a good chair and keep your back straight
  • Use a display for your computer, plus separate mouse and keyboard if you’re running off a laptop
  • Take a break every 30 minutes, go for a 2 minute walk and get some fresh air
  • Keep routine, including video chats with colleagues and taking a proper lunch break to relax
  • Squeeze in some exercise, even if it’s an online yoga or pilates session
  • Stock your pantry with health snacks – carrots and celery sticks for example
  • Find ways to manage stress – try meditation or mindfulness
  • Sleep at a regular time, have regular meals
  • Change out of your pyjamas (you can still keep it casual and comfortable)
  • Set rules for the family, if they are potential distractors
  • Set aside time for self-care – have a project on the side to keep things interesting
  • Use your calendar to set meetings and start/finish times

Stay healthy – good luck!
